Vigitron Announces New Features for Their Enterprise Monitoring Software

April 5, 2016, San Diego, CA — Vigitron, Inc., a leading manufacturer, and provider of analog, IP, and HD transmission solutions, announces new features for their Midspan Enterprise Monitoring Software PSE004.0. These new features include the ability to program both public and private email addresses and a new “Stay Alive” feature which monitors up to twenty units, 380 individual ports, continuously checking connections, automatically restarting port connections and PoE in the event connections are lost. The “Stay Alive” feature adds the current ability to automatically reconnect if communications are lost to Vigitron’s Midspans.

"This additional new feature continues Vigitron’s commitment to maintain security network operations, minimize downtime, and avoid costly infield security calls,” stated Neil Heller, Vigitron’s Vice President of Business Development. “These upgrades will be offered at no charge to existing customers and will be included in all new Midspan orders. They apply to Vigitron’s complete series of Midspans and extended distance transmission Midspan versions.”

The email feature allows the operators to program both private and public email addresses to maintain secure communications. Emails can be received on desktop and mobile devices. It will follow SNMP-type messaging and be in simple text format for quick and easy notification of the alarm condition.

The “Stay Alive” function allows operators to monitor individual Midspans and devices connected to individual ports. The operator can select ping times ranging from one to five seconds and the number of unresponsive pings up to five prior to issuing an alarm. Response times, between 100 to 500ms, are adjustments to account for normal delays, avoid misread, and reduce the potential for false alarms. If an alarm condition occurs, the Midspan will automatically reset the port and apply PoE. A log will keep track of all events. The operators can select both SNMP and email notification to indicate the specific Midspan and port.

“The 'Stay Alive' function is valuable for all applications, but particularly for access control, emergency response, and VoIP, where transmission is not continuous,” indicated Heller. “For video security, if the recordings are lost, the operator will be able to immediately determine if it was a connection issue and not a camera/recorder failure.”
